Art/painting is something I've loved to do all my life but never had the opportunity till a few years ago. I've always loved to draw, but only started painting couple years ago. I am not exposed to individuals who love to paint, so I'm hoping this website will draw me to people to have the same intrest as I do.

I think you mentioned something about how I find subjects to paint? I personally get all of my subject matter from my personal research (I'm a Doctoral student) and it gives me a never ending supply of subjects. I also work a lot from photographs, at least when I paint people, because I'm usually painting someone that really existed. I love your work. I see what you mean by 'flat', but it appears that you are inspired by South Asian art, and I can't imagine it any other way. I think it is great. Oh yes, I think you mentioned something about personal style and consistency? I suppose that is important. People will want to be able to look at your work, even if they have never seen it, and say, "oh, that is a Dawn". I also change my style quite a bit, but lately it seems I've settled into a groove.

Please post some of your work! Who cares if your new at painting. Some of my favorite work is considered "flat"! Keep at it.
